This is absurd. DO NOT CANCEL CAP AND TRADE. This government is not acting in the best interests of Ontarians - not financially, and not for the environment. You need to respect cap and trade AND find more ways to reduce carbon emissions from our province. Lire davantage

I think it is absolutely atrocious that this very new PC Gov't would proceed with this action of cancelling the Cap and Trade Agreement without sufficient consultation and due process OR having a replacement plan in place. Lire davantage

Cancellation of cap and trade policy is fundamentally destructive to the interests of the Ontario electorate. The major investments required to make the strategy effective have already been paid, and cancellation will be more expensive than continuing the system.

These comments are made as an individual Ontarian. My interest is ensuring that Ontario develops clear GHG targets, a well-thought out climate change plan, monitors progress regularly against the plan, and updates the plan at regular intervals. Lire davantage

As a young professional from a rural community west of Ottawa, I know that we must protect our environment with everything that we’ve got as a society. The historic 2017 flooding in the local area proved that climate change had tangible impacts on our part of the world. Lire davantage

Cap and trade and carbon taxes are proven to reduce emissions. The federal government has imposed a carbon tax if the provinces do not implement their own tax or a cap and trade system. Ontario would, therefore, be exempt from the federal carbon tax if we stayed in cap and trade. Lire davantage

Please do not cancel our cap and trade agreement. It is irresponsible and extremely costly to do so. The impact of climate change is here and now. It’s the most important environmental issue on the table for the 21st century. The sooner we make the transition to clean energy, the better. Lire davantage

While I understand our governments insistence on trying to save people money, I feel that using the environmental protections such as this as a way to do so is going to do more harm to the province than it will good. Lire davantage

I have been following the looming disaster of climate change for at least 5 years now. It is imperative we take BOLD and progressive action to mitigate the coming effects of climate change and stop emitting CO2 now. Lire davantage

The cancelation of the cap and trade is stupid! What the hell are you thinking Premier? In case you don’t know Premier - money talks. If I’m a business owner and you remove the insentive to make positive environmental change, why would I do it? Other than for the goodness for the earth?? Lire davantage

There should be no debate that a market based mechanism for carbon pricing is needed. Whether it is cap and trade or tax based does not really matter. Why dismantle a system that was working well to simply impose a top down solution. Lire davantage

This comment is in support of Bill 4 Cap and Trade Cancellation Act. There is no evidence that cap and trade even works and despite such programs being in place in 2017 the world’s greenhouse gas emissions rose to an all-time high. Lire davantage

Cap and Trade should not be cancelled. If anything, more programs should be put in place and hold our industries accountable for their impact on the environment. Lire davantage

Ontario needs to do everything possible to curb its carbon footprint and mitigate catastrophic climate change. Please keep the cap and trade legislation introduced by the previous government. Invest heavily in wind, solar and low impact hydro projects. Lire davantage

I agree with the cap and trade program and tax in Ontario. Paying a little more tax to achieve greater environmental gains is a no brainer. Lire davantage

We should keep cap and trade and all green programs associated with it. The rebates give people the opportunity to become leaders in sustainability. They give Ontario a great reputation of understanding the big picture. We were in good company w California and Quebec. Lire davantage
