Bill 66 represents an unprecedented and unacceptable attack on legislative provisions which currently safeguard environmental quality and public health and safety throughout Ontario.

I strongly oppose section 10 of proposed Bill 66. This would give businesses the opportunity of disregarding existing zoning laws which give environmental protection to areas in Ontario such as the Greenbelt surrounding Toronto.

Changing the development act is just another way to ignore the environment and give the developers free rein to do as they wish for profit without any concerns for the future of our waterways, and green space.

We need to ensure that the Greenbelt will remain as it currently is in perpetuity. Premier Ford, How would you like it if the municipal government in Muskoka allowed construction of a factory or quarry beside your cottage?

DO NOT pass this planning tool. These Open for Business by-laws will allow for the public to be ignored ahead of planning and will prevent appeal once a business has been approved.

I am very much opposed to the Open for Business planning tool. It gives far too much discretion to municipalities to override legislation that is very much in the public interest in terms of ensuring Ontario's traditionally high standards of environmental and conservation policy.

Remove Schedule 10 from Bill 66, we cannot allow municipalities to override provisions in the Greenbelt Act, Clean Water Act, Lake Simcoe Act, Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act and Great Lakes Protection Act.

This proposal is not required and undermines the land use planning process. If Official Plans and Zoning By-Laws are up to date as required by the Province and adequate employment are identified as required by the Province currently, why this this required? The answer is it is not required.

The "open-for-business-planning tool" is a very bad idea. It incentivizes municipalities and enables them to bypass all regulations, in particular those that will protect the environment such as the Green Belt. Ontario has lots of land for development that is not in the Green Belt.

I live in a small community in eastern Ontario, having moved out of Toronto 14 years ago. Even in that time, our area has changed from rural to ex-urban, as more and more retirees from Toronto and elsewhere buy land and build homes - to escape high prices and to live at a saner and safer pace.

I am fully in support of this Bill on a number of fronts. It is clear that more land and infrastructure is required to handle the growth in and around the GTA. I truly believe that residents of municipalities should have a greater say in what and where is developed in their municipalities.
