I am vehemently opposed to the use of MZOs. It is a blunt instrument that subverts democracy by preventing the public from engaging in the planning process. It is especially egregious when used to override protections for expediting the development of environmentally-sensitive lands. Lire davantage

Schedule 3 should be removed from the bill 257 which is supposed to be to support broadband technology. A planning policy schedule should not be included in this piece of legislation. Lire davantage

It is FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG for a government of any sort to pass legislation that allows it to ignore its own policies. Lire davantage

I would like you to removed Schedule 3 of Bill 257. I disagreed entirely with Schedule 6 of Bill 229 that you passed last year and which provoked the resignation of the entire Greenbelt Council. This new schedule is equally as destructive and for all the same reasons. Lire davantage

If Schedule 3 becomes law, when a Minister’s Zoning Order is used to permit development, it will no longer have to be consistent with Ontario’s fundamental planning principles – set out in the Provincial Policy Statement (the "PPS"). Lire davantage

Running contrary to the Provincial Policy Statement by amending the Planning Act to allow Ministry Zoning Orders to overrule public opinion is wrong and almost criminal. Lire davantage

The Power given to Ministers to enact MZOs that override the democratic process and the planning act are a bad idea. The conservative government should stop using MZOs. Lire davantage

MZO's should not be used to side-step community consultation and local planning policies. Minister’s Zoning Orders undermine public participation and circumvent the planning process. These have been rarely used in the past as they are considered a tool for only extraordinary cases. Lire davantage

The use of Minister's Zoning Orders by the current government violates our democratic rights. The backlash from the Duffins Creek Wetland debacle is evidence that these orders are being abused. Lire davantage

I do not agree with this proposed measure and can't imagine why it is even being proposed. It diminishes accountability.

I think it is really slimy and unethical for the Ford Government to use the pandemic crisis to sneak in and change protections to our wetlands. Unscrupulous. And shows a real lack of concern for our wildlife and future generations. Lire davantage
