I am deeply concerned by the prospect the current renewable energy requirements will be removed for all new developments. If anything, these provisions should be expanded.

To start, I would like to recognize the work that the IESO, past governments, OPG and others have done to shift the energy mix in Ontario from high-carbon sources to lower-carbon sources. All Ontarians benefited from the phase-out of coal electricity generation in the mid 2000s, for example.

Excellent move! Give renewable energy projects no priority or privilege. They have been a disaster for the province. Don't renew their contracts and demolish them at the end of those contracts.
Last week, for the first time ever, the International Energy Agency, the world’s leading energy authority, declared that we must halt all new gas, oil and coal projects to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. We must reduce the demand for gas by 55% to hit the global climate goal.
