Nestlé, the world’s largest bottled water company. The Swiss multinational is already allowed to pump up to 4.7 million litres of water out of the ground every day from two nearby wells that it bottles at its Guelph plant – on two expired permits no less! Read more

Thank you for this proposal to extend the moratorium on taking public groundwater and "giving" it to private conglomerates to sell for profit. This pause will stop development and allow more evidence to be gathered, distributed and considered. Read more

It simply does not make sense to allow a private company to deplete our water supply to create profit for the few. It makes even less sense when you think that allowing Nestle to access the water encourages single use plastic, which we now know is one of the big environmental issues we face today.

So glad to hear about this moratorium being extended. Water in plastic bottles should be banned altogether, and Ontario should be using its water frugally so there is lots for the 13 billion residents of southern Ontario to use in the near and distant future.

I support extending the water taking moratorium, in fact I think it should be extended for a longer time as proper consideration of Ontario's water resources should include extensive mapping of the aquifers, and of their capacities. Read more

Bottling water is a scam. It creates a lot of pollution. I hate that big companies manipulate the government to steal from us only to sell it back. If our politicians were any good they’d put a stop to it. Nothing good is coming from this.

I strongly believe a moratorium is NOT enough. All current bottlers of Ontario's water should IMMEDIATELY be required to pay the local or provincial government permitting them to do so a MINIMUM of ten cents per litre of water extracted from either ground or lake. Read more
