I have seen the establishment of european frog-bit in our local waterbodies near Dryden Ontario. This has harmed the indigenous wild rice businesses, as this plant covers up the areas where wild rice used to be. Also, boats have spread it throughout the area. Read more

I think that moving boats from one lake to another is extremely detrimental to our environment. This needs to stop. Education is simply not enough. Legislation to prohibit the movement of boats need to be passed. The economic and environment cost is just too high to sustain this madness. Read more

The Invading Species Council must begin to include in their educational effort the new and extremely destructive alga called Starry Stonewort. It has taken over our lake, even pushing out hybrid Eurasian watermilfoil. Its plant-like, crunch architecture allows massive growth of zebra mussels. Read more

I would like the MNRF to look o to ways to stop the spread of Starry Stonewort, as it has a very negative impact on fish habitat. It's ability to rapidly spread and take over native macrophytes is of great concern. Read more

The concept of enforcing boaters to remove all zebra mussels before taking their boat to another waterway is a great idea. There should, however, be provisions made for boaters who keep their boat at a dock in one lake for the majority, or entire, season. Read more
