It is really to bad that it has taken the ontario PC government two years to figure out that Invasive species was so important. The Ontario people have lost 2 years of vital funding to carry out the work that has been ongoing for years for invasive species monitoring.

I have seen the establishment of european frog-bit in our local waterbodies near Dryden Ontario. This has harmed the indigenous wild rice businesses, as this plant covers up the areas where wild rice used to be. Also, boats have spread it throughout the area.

I think that moving boats from one lake to another is extremely detrimental to our environment. This needs to stop. Education is simply not enough. Legislation to prohibit the movement of boats need to be passed. The economic and environment cost is just too high to sustain this madness.

I noticed that 'Eurasian watermilfoil' is not listed as one of the invasive species that you are seeking information on. This milfoil has been, and continues to be, a very pervasive species in our northern lakes. It is a species that continues to spread and cause environmental issues.

I live in Chatham-Kent where there is very little healthy biodiversity left to speak of. Most areas are taken up with human habitation and agriculture. In the spaces left in between, invasive species have displaced our native species plants.

I agree with a progressive and direct approach to curtailing all importation of species such as the two crayfish lised. I do not support a pet trade in any way for these.

All pose a threat to Ontario Agriculture in my opinion. I don't have any first hand experience with these species but i believe the threat they pose is significant.
I support MNRF in trying to limit/control these species.

The Invading Species Council must begin to include in their educational effort the new and extremely destructive alga called Starry Stonewort. It has taken over our lake, even pushing out hybrid Eurasian watermilfoil. Its plant-like, crunch architecture allows massive growth of zebra mussels.

I would like the MNRF to look o to ways to stop the spread of Starry Stonewort, as it has a very negative impact on fish habitat. It's ability to rapidly spread and take over native macrophytes is of great concern.

The concept of enforcing boaters to remove all zebra mussels before taking their boat to another waterway is a great idea. There should, however, be provisions made for boaters who keep their boat at a dock in one lake for the majority, or entire, season.
