I do not believe that one minister should have the power to override decisions made by municipalities
which were made in the best interests of that municipality. That makes a mockery of the democracy of our country.

Dear Minister Clark - This may be one of the few communiques that you receive that supports the use of MZOs in very particular circumstances. I believe that the process as outlined has merit and benefits. However, as always, the details matter very much.

I stand firmly against the use of Ministerial Zoning Orders as they currently stand. Any changes made to undeveloped land must be scrupulously subject to the citizens living in the area and other Ontarians who might also object to the converting of the existing natural landscape.

I am very disappointed and angry with what is happening in Stratford with latest zoning laws, lack of serious and intelligent reasoning with its changes and how it will affect its citizens, the environment, our way of life.

The present Minister has already used more MZOs than any previous Minister. Overriding local planning and Conservation Authorities is completely unwise. Not providing advance public notice and not allowing public comment is undemocratic. This bill should not be passed.

The legislation to create a Minister's Zoning Order is undemocratic and autocratic. Municipal governments must continue to decide in a public forum what development is in the best interest of its citizens. We hope wiser counsel will prevail.
