We made a boundary amendment to Mellon Lake Conservation Reserve, by way of an amendment to Ontario Regulation 315/07 under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006. The amendment added 1,082 acres (438 hectares) of former forest reserve land to Mellon Lake Conservation Reserve following through on a long-standing land use decision.
Ontario Parks is seeking input regarding proposed amendments to the John E. Pearce Provincial Park Management Plan. The proposed changes will ensure that the plan is consistent with the park’s Nature Reserve classification and protects the natural and cultural heritage values of the park.
We are proposing to expand the boundary of Bigwind Lake Provincial Park, located approximately 20 kilometres east of Bracebridge. Expanding this park would provide long-term protection and enhanced opportunities for recreational activities, such as hiking and backcountry camping.

We have decided to continue to the next stage of the management planning process for Bigwind Lake Provincial Park, which is the development of a preliminary management plan. A new management plan is required to create the first new full-service operating provincial park in 40 years at Bigwind Lake Provincial Park.
We are proposing regulatory and policy changes that would enable continued use of existing private recreation camps in provincial parks and conservation reserves, while maintaining ecological integrity.

Ontario is proposing to create a new provincial park (recreational class) in the Township of Uxbridge under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006.
This proposed park would provide opportunities for visitors to enjoy the area’s natural beauty, while strengthening the long-term protection of biodiversity and important habitat.
We have approved the Project Evaluation Policy under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act. It will guide consideration of potential environmental effects and consultation for certain proposed projects within provincial parks and conservation reserves carried out by or on behalf of the ministry.
We have made two changes to the boundary of Killbear Provincial Park. We added a large parcel of land to protect a variety of wetlands and Massassauga rattlesnake habitat, and we removed a small area to resolve an encroachment by the Township of Carling’s landfill site.

We have created Monarch Point Conservation Reserve in Prince Edward County to provide greater protection to the area. The conservation reserve was created through regulation under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006.
We are developing a plan to protect Wasaga Beach Provincial Park’s outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values. The plan will guide use, development, management and operation of the park for a 20-year period.
We have developed a background information document to support the development of a management plan for Wabakimi, Kopka River and Whitesand provincial parks. We are sharing this information to support public and stakeholder involvement in the planning process. This information will be the basis for all upcoming planning stages.
We are proposing a minor land use amendment to allow for the removal of 172 hectares of land from West Montreal River Provincial Park. This land would then be added to the Matachewan First Nation reserve to support the settlement of a Treaty Land Entitlement claim.
