The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is extending the 2004 Shebandowan Lake Management Plan, by three (3) years. The new expiration date for this plan will be July 1, 2027.

Ontario Regulation 161/17 was amended to clarify that floating accommodations cannot be placed or used for outdoor accommodation or camping purposes on public land covered by water. Ontario Regulation 326/94 was also amended to make the same clarification for non-residents camping on public land in northern Ontario.
The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry is seeking to gather initial input on potential ideas and approaches to manage “camping” on water and the use of floating accommodations on waterways over Ontario’s public lands.
We have approved the land use policies in the Hearst Administrative District to facilitate the sale or lease of Crown land for agriculture purposes. These changes will increase opportunities for agriculture industries and will promote the agricultural economy within Northern Ontario.
We are proposing to amend area-specific Crown land use policies for the Red Lake General Use Area (G2514) to allow for the consideration of disposition(s) of Crown land for the purposes of cottaging, rural residential and urban development within municipal boundaries.
We are proposing to amend the Public Lands Act to reduce red-tape for clients. Changes would improve customer service and government efficiency, reduce unnecessary burdens, and provide a greater ability to make public lands available for economic development opportunities, particularly in the North.

We have approved the minor amendment to the area-specific Crown land use policies for the Lac Seul General Use Area (G2518) and Red Lake General Use Area (G2514) to allow the potential sale of Crown land for the purposes of cottage lot development within the Township boundaries of the Township of Ear Falls.

The fees collected for issuing Crown land dispositions such as leases and land use permit have not changed since 2003. In many cases, the cost to deliver these services exceeds the fees collected. We have updated these fees to keep pace with service costs and inflation.
