The proposed baitfish suggestions are too restrictive and will make fishing with live bait much harder in the future. If anglers and bait suppliers are restricted as proposed, it could result in a negative impact to fishing in the province. [Original Comment ID: 209113]

#1- The proposal to prohibit bait fish from native Brook Trout lakes and the ability to enforce that fairly seems like a difficult and extremely expensive task. The reason for this is because many trout lakes that are now stocked originally had native trout populations. Read more

The proposed 2 week limit for holding live bait makes absolutely no sense as this is a clear waste of natural resources. Is wasting natural resources now acceptable management practice with the MNRF biologists and/or anyone else responsible for this proposal? [Original Comment ID: 209161]

I absolutely oppose the changes being brought forth in this proposal. It appears to me that not enough sound research has gone into the specifics that this proposal seems to be trying to blanket. More useless regulations are not what is needed. Read more

While I think some aspects of this proposal (not moving bait from southern Ontario to prevent invasive species) are a good idea, many of the other proposals would have a negative outcome in Northwestern Ontario. The zone I live in and buy bait from is different than the zone our camp is in. Read more

I can not see how this will work for winter fishing. We only use live bait in the winter time and usually trap our own in local creeks or ponds. We only fish local lakes and I mean with in a 15km radius. Why would this have to change, what is the reason behind this? Read more

I feel that commerical or private harvest bait it should be based on area. What about the guy who can't afford to buy you just increasing cost and preventing people from supporting themselves. One rule for business of for us not correct and putting business before citizens Read more
