I completely agree with the proposed restrictions on baitfish and actually think they should be a little more restrictive. Too many lakes are getting perch and bass that only had trout before. Once the harm is done it cannot be undone easily. Read more

This new live bait proposal will have an adverse affect on many Ontario residents & tourist not to mention people in the bait business. Many commercial bait dealers have to get their bait in different zones. Now they won't be able to do this. Read more

Fishing is suppose to be a relaxing pastime ,you are making it so complicated it will no longer be worth the effort. I cannot afford to purchase Bait so harvest my own,if this is no longer allowed I will quit fishing. [Original Comment ID: 209725]

It is okay to restrict bait movement to the fisheries management zone but this will cause problems for commercial bait harvesters and outfitters who use or reside near the boundaries and use more than one zone. It is important to allow anglers to harvest their own bait. Read more

As an avid fisherman I am opposed to the implementation of the bait restrictions proposed by the MNRF. These restrictions would greatly affect not only recreational fisherman but also tourist outfitters and other businesses that rely on the sport fishing industry. Read more

As a member of the FMZ 11 Advisory Committee I appreciate that the effort put into the policy for bait management. I understand that the industry is worth $23 million dollars to the provincial economy however the magnitude of the economic risk dwarfs its value. Read more

Possession Limits ; Why restrict fly -in fishermen to 10 dozen if they have a receipt from a bait dealer showing the date and amount purchased. Sticklebacks; Banning as a baitfish is like banning mosquitos. They are present in great numbers and impossible to prevent. Read more
