I agree with Strategic Policy for Bait Management in Ontario on the most part. I would like to see that you could move my own harvested bait within the County in what you live, providing that there is no boundaries of diseases being crossed.

The proposals recommended will do little to achieve the desired goals. Further, they will alienate the angler and hunter community who has come to believe that it is again being targeted with unnecessary restrictions that negatively impact the pursuit of their recreation activities.

I am an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper and outdoorsman. While I believe in conservation and management, I believe that the proposed restrictions placed on live bait is overly restrictive and will have an adverse affect on me and my family's ice fishing opportunities in the winter.

I oppose the new proposed legislation on “Bait review policy” that will rezone the movement of bait in Ontario. I have been in the business for over 30 years, both as a harvester and a retail operator. My operation is off HWY 11, between Cobalt and Haileybury.

Although I find any of these proposals hard to swallow, the following is a list of my major concerns...
Why are leaches being targeted if disease is not a problem? Leaches are caught, cleaned in well water, for about one week prior to shipping which is also done in quality well water.

On the day I want to fish I would have to drive 30-50 km to purchase some minnows. This would be just another inconvience to fisherman. I totally disagree with this silly idea.
