We are in a time of unexpected water shortages around the world. Multinationals are quietly buying up properties in many countries that are known to have large aquifers. This is a dangerous trend since whoever “owns” the water has the power to withhold it. Read more

Your proposal is a small start towards this ‘business’ practice being curtailed. It is insane that our society condones the pollution of the trucking industry transporting to all corners of the continent drinking water packaged in non reusable plastic containers. Read more

Instead of an extension, there should be a full stop, to give the Ministry time to further advance the ministry's understanding of the water resources in the province, with a particular focus on groundwater takings by water bottling facilities.

Our water resources are limited. Allowing companies to bottle and distribute water outside our watershed depletes our long term resources. Please take the time to review this carefully. Corporations must not dictate our future or we won’t have one. Read more

Please extend the moratorium on new or increasing permits on taking ground water for purposes of bottling it. This practice of taking ground for these purposes must stop. The water belongs to the people, not to companies for purposes of selling it for commercial purposes, much less in bottles. Read more

Nestle or any other water bottling company should not be allowed to continue to take water from communities without updated permits. Bottling free water and selling it back to people is unconscionable. The government needs to stop big companies like Nestle from taking advantage of communities.

I am strongly in agreement on extending the moratorium. I cannot understand how it is allowed that corporations are allowed to bottle water in single serving size plastic water bottles at the ridiculously low water rates that they are charged. Read more

As a resident of Erin, ON with a water processing site a mere 5 km away I worry for the future of our community. Water is a public trust, and not a commodity to be sold. We may not see the ramifications of this but i guarantee our children will if we don't make changes now.
