As a conserned science citizen and wildbird rehaber, I feel this proposal has not been thought out very well. I am not in favour of it, unless the number of cormorants is far less (at least half), hunting season is not during breeding season and not for as long.

I like the idea of up to 50 per day with no possession limit, but would maybe suggest up to 50 per party per day. Allowing the bird to be disposed of is a great idea. I hope these birds come into check and it can be done with hunters.

It would be wonderful if a season opened to help control the population of these birds. There are insane numbers of them present on lake simcoe and they are destroying island vegetation.

I have seen the environmental damage resulting from their colonies, and belive that hunting would be an effective method of control.
This is an excellent idea. Cormorant are very detrimental the fish populations and vegetation growth. I applaud the ministries progressive thinking on this one.
I am in full support of a double crested cormorant hunting season. I’ve seen that destruction they do to islands and surrounding environments. I would participate in this hunt.
A full, unregulated open season should be established for cormorants in Ontario. They are a nuisance invasive species which significantly harms the resources naturally available in Ontario.

I am in favour of this proposal. While not a hunter, I feel the cormorant population is adversely affecting the sport fishing opportunities, particularly walleye.
This stupidity of protecting these eating machines should be stopped, they need to be hunted and culled to the point of a very strict control on their numbers. Other than eating and crapping they have no purpose.
I fully support this season. The population has grown so significant and you can see the stress it’s put on the fish population as well as the destruction of habitat where they next.
I travel across Ontario to hunt and fish. There is no lake where you do not find the cormorant. These I find at time in groups of hundreds. There are certainly an over abundance and a reduction in population is definitely warranted.
There should indeed be an open season on cormorants, they have destroyed beautiful islands on lake and severely decreased the freshwater fish population.
I appreciate the cormorant season but why not classify it like the red wing black bird crows year round open season . Either way this is a step in the right direction to protect our shore lines and a over population
I think there should be a hunting season to control cormorants I believe they are totally out of control they have established them selves in Big Rideau Lake and I see a noticeable change in fishing and even a decline in the Loon population and lack of large schools of baitfish
