I don't believe that the power of conservation authorities should be reduced. They serve an important role, and with the changes to our planet caused by climate changing we should be looking to knowledgeable organizations to help protect our environment not further hamstring their abilities.

The CAs have lost their way. Recently, when funding cuts were threatened for Quinte Conservation, their press release said, "If you cut our funds, we won't be able to process building permits as quickly and it could delay building projects." How wrong is that? Read more

These proposals are not sufficiently detailed to know exactly what changes you want to make. The ability of conservation authorities to review and comment on proposed developments should not be diminished. Conservation authorities should continue to enforce the Fisheries Act. Read more

In recent years TRCA employee who has flagrantly promoted IECA-CAN and Cisec (a inspector program from Colorado) openly, using TRCA address for these organizations, rejecting other certifications, that are far superior. Read more

I would propose that there a time limit of 12 months for the ministry to approve Strategic Plans for individual Conservation Areas. Currently, the NPCA has a plan for Cave Springs CA that has been 'lost in limbo' for approx. 2 years. Read more

Conservation Authorities (ca) are in my view the specialist organizations that are best equipped to protect the public and private property as well as the vast areas of common space (conservation lands, public lands, lakes, rivers etc). Read more

It is my opinion that conservation authorities have gone way beyond their original mandate. When the CA Act was first brought into law there was a demand for erosion protection due to deforestation and increased agricultural use. Read more
