Bill 108 should not be passed. The changes to the Ontario Heritage Act will substantially weaken a municipality's ability to protect historic buildings for properties. This should not be a Provincial decision.

Please do not change the Ontario Heritage Act with Bill 108. The current act works. I cannot understand the need or want, to amend this bill and take away the authority of local municipalities and heritage committees to decide what is important to their communities. Read more

I am concerned that the proposed changes, in addition to the changes in LPAT to make it more developer-oriented will remove the few impediments we have to the wholesale demolition of our built and natural heritage. Once a historic structure is gone it will never come back. Read more

In Bill 108 the plan is to: Create a consistent and binding appeals process by: • Requiring that municipal decisions related to heritage designations and alterations be appealable to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT), and that LPAT orders on such appeals be binding. Read more
