It's a great idea - reduce congestion in other lanes, and by allowing motorcycles to 'get through' allows us to keep moving. No risk of over heating (bodily heat or mechanical) in warm temperatures, which can both be very dangerous to a rider. Thanks for considering this.

What supporting documation does the Gov have to show this is of benefit? What research did they do to support this change, where did they get their data? How will this improve rider and driver safety, traffic flow and or congestion? Read more

Please proceed with this. It makes sense for bikes to use HOV lanes for safety reasons alone. Numerous studies shows it significantly reduces the chances of rear end collisions in stop and go, plus it matches other provinces and states where bikes are already allowed to ride in the HOV lanes. Please consider opening the hov lanes for motorcyclists. Its a safety issue. Riders need to be able to protect themselves through what is called blocking position. In the hov lane, a rider only has to worry about cars encroaching on them from the right. Read more

I totally agree with this proposal. It will make it much safer for motorcyclists. Especially on the 401 going though Toronto. That is very dangerous driving there with cars weaving in and out of traffic and speeders. I would feel a while lot safer!!

I agree with allowing motorcycles to use the HOV lanes. Promoting motorcycle riding reduces pollution and they do not create traffic congestion the way cars, trucks and large vehicles do. Also, motorcycles are already at 50% occupancy which should satisfy the “high occupancy” criteria.

This is a good idea, motorcycles are fast moving vehicles so they won't be in the way. You will also save a few lives, next up Lane Splitting. Much research has been done on lane splitting, as a rider myself I automatically split lanes at a stop light to avoid any chance of a rear end accident. Read more
