I strongly oppose this proposal. We drive with our two children and use HOV lanes occasionally. These lanes are tricky to get into and out of as it is. Some people also treat them like a "no speed limits" or "autobahn" lanes as the HOV lanes are to the left of the regular passing lanes. Read more

This is a great idea and well overdue! Why make motorcycles wait in traffic when they could be moving quickly and easily out of the way? It's also safer for the riders so they don't get hit from behind while waiting in a traffic queue. Read more

I would appreciate being able to use the HOV lane, as a motorcycle rider, as it would be the safest lane to be in when the option is available. With only one side of the lane exposed to incoming traffic, it removes a considerable amount of danger while operating a motorcycle on the highway. Read more

Most importantly allowing single occupancy motorcycles in the HOV lanes is much safer for the motorcyclist and why it is permitted in most other jurisdictions. It also makes sense for traffic flow as motorcycles are often not expected in traffic by automobile drivers which throws them off. Read more

This will be great, keeping motorcycles safe away from bumper to bumper traffic, where lots of riders have been killed by texters pinning them from behind into the car in front. Motorcycles will also stop zipping in and out of lanes to get ahead, hov lanes will allow that convenience.

This is a fantastic idea! Motorcyclists are vulnerable road users, and being rear ended by a car in stop and go traffic is a real concern. They take up less space, use less gas and ultimately leave more parking for cars at their destination. Read more
