This proposal says "the application of municipal zoning on Crown land does not apply to aggregate extraction" . What is the impact on municipalities if their ability to control this zoning is removed?

I do not support that municipal zoning bylaws relating to depth extraction would not apply. The local municipality needs to have the final say in protecting our water via zoning.

The summary on this website indicates the proposed changes will "reduce burdens for business while maintaining strong protection for the environment". I realize the economy relies on business but it also relies on making sure the environment is protected so that we have an economy.

It looks like you're giving a lot more power to the gravel companies and taking it away from municipalities and citizens. We'll try and make you pay for this in the next election.
Reducing business burdens for the aggregate industry without tightening the community and environment protection regulations would not work. The industry would definitely act in a self-serving manner unless there was oversight from a local Citizen's Cmte or some other local monitoring body.
I learned last week of the introduction of Bill 132 (1st reading) in the Legislative Assembly. It has only recently been listed as a related link on the registry 019-0556.
