I am a Golf Course Superintendent in Ontario. Since the inception of the Pesticides act, I have never had more than 2 attendees at any public meeting I have been a part of. Most years there have been no attendees. The meeting is quite obviously unnecessary.

We have been hosting public meetings since the start of the IPM requirements for golf courses. We have had a total of 2 people show up to these meetings. Both of these people were only there to ask where they could get pesticides for their home lawn.

I feel the changes proposed to amendments to the Pesticide regulation 63/09 are needed because of the resources and costs that are required to hold a yearly public meeting to disclose our usage from the previous years use.

We support the amendments to the Pesticide Regulations. Specifically removal of the need for annual public meetings. We find them costly and have seen no attendance over the last few years.
I am an assistant superintendent at a golf course in Toronto. Our past five years we have had one patron come to our meeting to discuss pesticide use on the golf course. The general public does not come to these meetings and are a waste of time and energy for golf courses.

I have perused through the document. Wow, that was dry.
It looks like most of the changes are housekeeping.
They have done away with the Committee making decisions and are now using the Director as the decision maker. Not sure I like decisions coming down to one person.

We are in agreement with eliminating the requirement for Golf Clubs to hold an annual meeting with the neighbours. We have never had more than two people attend and it doesn't seem like the best use of our resources and staff's time.

That is a great idea as usually no one comes anyway. It is a lot of work when your golf course is right in town as there are a lot of neighbours. We hand deliver, invitations to come, as well as putting it in the paper.
The public meeting seemed like a good idea at first. At our facility we are surrounded by residential and commercial properties. No one from the commercial properties had any questions or concerns about the use of pesticides.

It is discouraging to see that, in the light of consistent research into the extremely harmful effects of neonicitoids on pollinators and migrating bird populations, that the government of Ontario is going to make it easier to access and use a poison that exceeds DDT in its rapacious effects.
