Too often the governments of Ontario have tried to bypass requirements and this is wrong. All projects require oversight, that is why regulations are in place. To remove them is not acceptable. They are not red tape, they are protections. To leave these processes out makes a project legally wrong.

This is just an attempt to say you're "reducing red tape" but in reality you're just using the pandemic as a distraction and hoping people don't notice that you're removing any sort of oversight or regulatory restrictions on development. There is nothing good here at all.
Environmental regulations are critical to uphold, particularly at this critical moment in time where we may be causing irreparable damage to the planet. This proposal should not be approved.
I thought the Conservatives seemed to be handling the Covid-19 crisis well, but now it appears there was another self-serving agenda at work behind the scenes. Both Bill 197 (the subject of this ERO posting) and the recent Bill 195 were cut and designed from the same power-hungry ‘cloth’.

Environmental Assessments are crucial in any proposed land-use projects. Good farmland and healthy functioning natural areas are becoming scarce in this area, and if the communities in southern Ontario are to thrive in the future, they need both.

When you exempt projects that could have an environmental impact, from environmental assessment, that is when projects that will cause damage get the go-ahead, and environmental damage is done that can't be reversed.
