These proposed changed to the Endangered Species Act are extremely disheartening. It is quite clear that these changes are being made in favor of development and will undoubtedly be abused. Read more

I strongly disagree with the approach to have Butternut Health Assessments conducted by individuals who have not taken the Butternut Health Assessment course. What basis is there to ensure that these individuals are completing the assessment accurately? Read more

I see no evidence that the government is taking a science-based approach to the protection of Species at Risk with the proposed changes. Read more

The Agency should be required to use the funds collected for a species on the recovery of that species. i.e. if funds are collected for the impacts on Barn Swallows, the funds should not be used for the recovery of Blanding's Turtles.

This sounds like a great idea. It will make the processes involved with development more streamlined and give the proponent more options to abide by SAR legislation and ultimately in protection of the listed species. I look forward to it being implemented.

I oppose this Fund as it facilitates species-at-risk destruction of their habitats. As soon proponents of harmful activities pay into the Fund they are automatically cleared more easily than ever to destroy species-at-risk and their habitats with impunity free from any damage liability. Read more

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed Species at Risk Conservation Fund. While the Fund has an appealing name, I share the concerns outlined by Ontario Nature and I do not support the Fund as proposed. Read more

The proposed changes are seriously concerning and I am opposed to them. They further weaken the protection for the limited habitat available to endangered species in Ontario. Indeed they effectively put these habitats for sale.. Read more

Of all the many environmentally damaging actions this government has taken, this is perhaps the most cynical, far-reaching, and unconscionable. Read more

The proposal under this notice to allow monies to be directed to a fund rather than action to protect species and restore them makes the process more indirect and cumbersome. Read more

This document proposes “regulatory changes that will offer more innovative and coordinated ways of helping species at risk impacted by development projects.” It suggests that developments that impact species at risk will have “the option to have the new provincial agency pool resources and determin Read more

I read this proposal with scepticism. I understand that this new "conservation" fund is being established in order to cut the "red tape" proponents face when filing for an overall benefit permit when it is discovered that species-at-risk will be negatively impacted by a project/development.
