I am against this fund, because its long term negative effects far outweigh the short term positive ones. Developers will be allowed to pay away the harm they do to the environment. This encourages a broader use of risky offsets for threatened and endangered species. Read more

This proposal is effectively a pay-to-kill system in which those with enough money will be able to walk away from destroying essential habitats and environments of at risk species with no more than a lighter pocket. Read more

These proposed changes are unacceptable and completely contrary to the purpose of the Endangered Species Act. Paying into a fund, which is managed by the same corruption that created it, is not the same as preserving individuals of a species. Read more

The concept of paying to have the privilege of destroying important habitat for endangered species is bizarre! Important habitat needs to be protected not destroyed. Please do not go ahead with this legislation. It represents all that is wrong with a completely business oriented government. Read more

We are supportive of the proposed amendments to the Endangered Species Act, R.S.O. 2007, as outlined in ERO 019-2636. We agree the Species at Risk Conservation Fund concept will help streamline authorizations and development projects, while also serving to appropriately protect species at risk. Read more

I am concerned that the proposed changes to ESA will have negative affects to those species listed. Paying into fund will make it easier for developers to destroy habitat. Read more

I do not support this proposal. It will result in developers simply paying money into a fund and absolving themselves of all responsibility for negative environmental and social impacts to watersheds, municipalites, and species at risk. Read more

Hello, How exactly will companies be reprimanded for excessive destruction of species at risk? What happens if the fund runs out? How will you regulate companies so they are not destructively expanding areas that may be locally or regionally important to certain species? Read more
