Please do not reduce NVCA authorities as we need continued regulation to prevent further harm to the environment and wildlife habitats, let alone the impact to human health and well-being.

It is not clear exactly what you are proposing. If you are proposing to no longer maintain trails, then this is unacceptable. Maintaining trails within conservation areas and trails such as the K&P trail from Kingston to Sharbot Lake must remain a priority.

I do not support the proposed changes to the Conservation Authorities Act. I think that Municipalities will have less ability to resist short-sighted development policies if they can undertake projects by shortcutting rules and public input.

This proposal is short-sighted and ignores many of the benefits of so-called non-core services. Programs focusing on stewardship of the land and waterways are of critical importance to Ontarians and have down-stream benefits in terms of flood prevention, biodiversity, erosion, etc.

I think this is the wrong way to go. Most of the CA preservation interests goes through private lands. Why would the province allow municipalities to opt out of funding assistance for this valuable work and oversight?
We are asking the Ontario Government to recognize the important value of our Conservation Authorities and to fund them directly and appropriately so they can help our province do its part in achieving our National Biodiversity Goals as stated below. These were the Goals to reach for 2020.
