With human population at an all time high and with this most recent pandemic it is extremely important to reserve our Greenbelt and farmland more now than ever. We need to take a close look at our own resources and not be so dependent on other countries to feed us. Read more

The greenbelt is what makes Ontario, specifically this part of Ontario, so beautiful. Doing anything to the greenbelt other than keeping it as an untouched, natural space is chipping away at one of the very reasons people move to Ontario in the first place.

I would suggest you consider expansion of the Oak Ridges Moraine south to Lake Ontario along the Shelter Valley creek basin and east/west along the Lake Ontario shoreline at least south of the CN/ CP railway between Cobourg and Colborne. Read more

I live Princeton, Ontario, near Paris. The massive number of homes built in Paris in the last 5 years has badly impacted the “small town” in my opinion. Developers can’t keep taking farm land. Town councils only see tax dollars. Read more

Expanding the Greenbelt to include the Paris Galt Moraine and enhanced protection of urban river valleys are great first steps, but will be inadequate unless followed up by more substantial greenbelt expansion to environmentally sensitive areas in surrounding areas to the present greenbelt. This ERO is a greenwashing attempt by PCPO ministers of the environment and housing and municipal affairs in the face of extreme public opposition to the sprawl-inducing GTA West Highway and the devastation of important wetlands in Pickering and Vaughn. Read more

As a citizen of canada and a resident of ontario, i wish to see an increase in the size of the greenbelt, and zero additional rezoning, paving, or development in it. If covid has shown anything, it is that the residents of ontario wish for more greenspace, more nature, not less.
