We have exempted certain Crown projects related to provincial parks and conservation reserves from Environmental Assessment Act requirements and approved the Project Evaluation Policy (formerly referred to as the Environmental Impact Assessment Policy) to move projects forward faster without compromising environmental protection.
We have approved the Project Evaluation Policy under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act. It will guide consideration of potential environmental effects and consultation for certain proposed projects within provincial parks and conservation reserves carried out by or on behalf of the ministry.
We have made two changes to the boundary of Killbear Provincial Park. We added a large parcel of land to protect a variety of wetlands and Massassauga rattlesnake habitat, and we removed a small area to resolve an encroachment by the Township of Carling’s landfill site.
The Ministry of Northern Development is proposing a new Statement of Environmental Values to reflect the present structure and mandate of the Ministry.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is proposing an amendment to O. Reg. 664/98 (Fish Licensing) made under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997 (FWCA) to add Jade Perch (Scortum barcoo) to the list of species that are eligible for aquaculture in Ontario.
Amendments have been made to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act, through Bill 91, to create an authorization process for special projects to test or demonstrate new activities, including carbon storage, and to enhance measures to safeguard people and the environment. Bill 91 received royal assent on June 8, 2023.

We are proposing regulatory amendments to enable the transport of preserved baitfish and leeches into and out of Bait Management Zones (BMZ) and to allow the temporary transport of bait out of and into a BMZ so that they can be used in the BMZ they were acquired in.
