Provincial guidance for integrating watershed and subwatershed planning into land use planning is out of date, current guidance is from 1993.
We want to rectify this to support implementation of provincial land use policy and address a barrier to housing development, in partnership with the Conservation Authorities Working Group and developers.

We are proposing to develop a species-specific policy (government response statement) that outlines the actions the government intends to lead and support in the protection and recovery of American Eel in Ontario.
MNRF is proposing regulatory changes to Ontario Regulation 244/97 under the Aggregate Resources Act to expand the list of changes that can be made to site plans without ministry approval (subject to conditions) and proposing a policy that would provide direction for changes to licences, permits and site plans where ministry approval is required.
The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (MPBSD) updated its Statement of Environmental Values (SEV) to reflect changes in name, structure, and mandate.
In co-operation with academia (Fisheries Conservation Foundation, Universities of Carleton, Illinois, Manitoba, and Queen’s), the ministry is proposing to create temporary fish sanctuaries on Opinicon Lake and Charleston Lake for the 2024 and 2025 fishing season to support long-term bass nesting and population recruitment research.

Bill 46, Less Red Tape, Stronger Ontario Act, 2023, received royal assent on March 22, 2023. The act amends the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act to remove the prohibition on carbon storage. This change represents a first step towards enabling geologic carbon storage in the province of Ontario.

We have updated some of the values found in Table 1 and Table 2 of the Nutrient Management Tables, part of the Nutrient Management Protocol, incorporated by reference into O. Reg. 267/03 made under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002. These changes ensure that the values in these Tables remain up-to-date and reflect current industry practices.
On February 6, 2023, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing posted to the Environmental Registry a proposal for a new Minister’s regulation under the Planning Act that would require 29 municipalities in Ontario to report data on planning matters on a quarterly and annual basis. The Ministry decided to proceed with the Minister’s regulation.

We have made a decision on an application for four proposed models to calculate the lifecycle GHG intensity of new bio-based content under the Cleaner Transportation Fuels Regulation. The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) sought ideas in 2022 on how to integrate A Place to Grow and the Provincial Policy Statement. On April 6, 2023, MMAH made a proposed Provincial Planning Statement available for public input.
We are proposing to amend the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997, and associated regulations, to allow for the issuance of licences of new dog train and trial areas, and to allow the transfer of licences.
