Especially considering the UN’s recent report on the status of climate change, it is clearly pivotal to reduce greenhouse gases where it matters most- on the corporate level. Cap and Trade is the best system that we have in place to do just that. Read more

Cap-and-trade is extremely profitable for Ontario. It is a vital climate law that is working. Vital cap-and-trade money is funding energy-efficiency programs in schools, public housing, hospitals and transit systems and it helped greenhouse gas emissions decline from 2005 to 2016 in Ontario! I am extremely disappointed that you plan on cancelling the cap and trade program. We NEED a program like this, if not even stronger, to facilitate the transition away from a fossil fuel based economy. The research is very clear that aggressive action is necessary in order to prevent future harm. Read more

It is very foolish to cancel Cap and Trade. Hiding your head in the sand will not change the current state of affairs. This government needs to realistically deal with climate change and to develop policies that will encourage people to make wise use of all our resources.

A price on carbon emissions is vital to promoting clean and renewable energy. It is a tangible, effective way to force producers to change their habits and innovate. This is considered the first step by many climate experts in order to start immediate cut-backs of greenhouse gas emissions. Read more

Ontario’s new PC government, like the Trump administration for that matter, appears to feel no urgency to act to stop or retard climate change. Its first acts after taking power accelerated climate change even before formulating an emissions reduction policy. Read more
