It is the epitome of male arrogance that they believe they can control nature. Look around guys ... this is what you have created. The balance is completely unbalanced because you thought you were doing what needs to be done. Read more

I am writing to protest the proposed establishment of a hunting season on double-crested cormorants. It is stated that this proposal is in response to "concerns" expressed by some individuals such as commercial fishers, hunter and anglers, and those who find cormorant colonies unpleasant. Read more

The Cormorants, Blue Herons and Gulls are three of the most elegant birds in our area. I’ve attached imagines to share this view. It’s so regrettable that politicians have to pander to the lowest common denominator to be re-elected.

I am astonished that a proposal of this nature is even being considered! Is the cormorant population really at such a high that it's worth risking a dramatic decline again when there are non-lethal methods that could be used in specific areas of concern, if/when necessary. Read more

I do not support hunting the double-crested cormorant. It should not be reclassified as a game bird. We must protect the double-crested cormorant from hunters. They must be left alone and be free to exist safe from harm. Killing innocent birds is not the answer to population management.

This proposal provides no enforcable limit to the number that can be killed. Dead birds left to rot cannot be traced to any hunter and will have a much worse effect on aesthetics than the live birds. I suggest delivering any rotting birds that are found to the minister responsible.

I am strongly against the proposed hunting season for double-breasted cormorants. It is not fair treatment to allow hunting of a species during its breeding season, which the current proposal would include. Read more

This is an unneccssary culling of the species that has just rebounded. If same logic is used canada geese amd seagulls should be hunted. The risk to other species is too great, especially with the proposed numbers allowed to be killed.

I do not support the creation of a cormorant hunt... no hunter eats fish ducks, this would be nothing more than wholesale slaughter disguised as “hunting”. Cormorants are a Native bird species documented in Ontario since the very first lists of species were made. See McIlwraith Birds of Ontario. Read more

I am against the hunting of comorants. There are several reasons for this but most importantly is because hunters tend not to keep to their limits and since the hunting period is over 200 days, this will lead not to control of the species but rather extinction! Read more
