I strongly condem the capture of wild animals to be used in canned hunts and to be subjected to the cruelty of being used to train hunting dogs. There is a reason why previous to this it has been phased out. It is animal cruelty and skies a massive disrespect to our wildlife.

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals who are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt. Read more

The human race has many advantages over wildlife as it is. There is no need to hunt captive wildlife to train dogs. There are responsible, humane ways to train dogs without the use of killing captive animals. Read more

I don't believe that using captive animals for the purpose of being repeatedly hunted down is an ethical practice. It's been a little more than 25 years since the ban. That's a pretty long time for alternatives to the practice to be made, and I don't see a need to put effort into undoing the ban.

Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions.
