I came upon this proposal in my Facebook feed today. I'm not normally someone to become involved in these types of social outcries - especially not without doing my research first. Read more

It is unacceptable that wildlife are abused to train dogs for hunting! Domestic animals are removed from their homes for the slightest infraction of the Welfare laws. This promotes untold 'distress' in animals that should be allowed to live their lives in their own habitat. Read more

This method of "training" is nothing short of barbaric. It's a disgusting way to just torture and kill wild animals, and serves no purpose but to use cruelty to create cruel animals. Read more

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals that are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt. Read more

I cannot believe that in the twentieth century we allow something so barbaric as this to happen to our wildlife. This is very upsetting. What chance do these wildlife animals have when they are in a pen being attacked and ripped apart by these dogs. This needs to be banned.

This is obviously cruel to the coyotes, foxes, rabbits etc. taken from their homes in the wild, put in pens, then chased by dogs, all in the name of learning to hunt. This is disgusting.

Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions. Read more

I strongly believe that wildlife should NOT be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters! It is particularly cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions. This is unneccessary cruelty!

This practice is barbaric and unethical. To capture and use wild animals for entertaining is absolutely cruel and unnecessary. It doesn’t not serve any purpose. This practice needs to be eliminated and never brought up again.

I never thought I'd see the day when Ontario would become as bad as some other countries, who allow canned hunts, the mere idea that it is being proposed is preposterous and disgraceful. Read more

This is decision making rolled backwards by 30 years. There is no reason that dogs need to be trained to hunt animals in captivity. It's like hanging donuts in a tree for a bear to shoot it. And making it legal for those going underground is like saying we should legalize dog or cock fights. Read more

This is unbelievably cruel and inhumane, harming animals isn't a sport and this should be completely illegal. No living being should go through this torture, shame on anyone who supports this and the government for allowing it. My vote will be going elsewhere when the time comes. Do better.
