Dogs taught to hunt react with a prey mentality to all other small animals. They’ll tear apart grouse, rabbits, etc. Let’s not go back to the early 1900s? Wildlife management is a patriarchal drive to ‘master’ and ‘control’ nature. Stop it. Read more

I am so disappointed that the MNR would consider reinstating this cruel and unethical practice. Capturing wildlife to subject it to cruelty and death simply to train hunting dogs is not what I thought the MNR stood for. Please do NOT reinstate this practice!

I strongly oppose the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses, and the transfer of existing licenses, for dog train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals used to train dogs to hunt. Read more

Capturing wild animals, storing them gor trial, and using them for Live bait training is unethical. Use of dead animals such as roadkill and blood for scent marking is enough. This would be torturing wild animals. Read more

Crazy, archaic thinking! These train and trial areas should be ALL shut down, not increased. Do we have cowboys in Fish & Wildlife? I have huge support for registered dog breeders, but not the torture of wildlife. Go after puppy mills instead!

I am strongly opposed to a dog training facility that is inhumane to wildlife. It is shocking that humans still continue to allow this type of practice. It is wrong and disgusting. Please don’t allow this to happen!

Someone just thinking of using live animals to train dogs is inhuman, barbaric, cruel, sadistic and is indicative of someone who obviously has NO respect, empathy, care or concern for LIFE; who obviously lacks educating & awareness; who has no morals, values, integrity .. Read more

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals that are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for ‘train and trial’ areas in Ontario is a massive step backward. These facilities have no place in Ontario. Read more

I strongly disagree with this. They don’t deserve this kind of treatment, these animals have a right to be left alone instead of being used for bait. I have lost faith in humanity, this world has gone mad. We wouldn’t use our children as bait so why use these animals. Read more

This is just so wrong and I can’t believe that the MNR is considering it. It is intentionally inflicting violence and harm on innocent animals at a time in our history where society is already being exposed to so many violent and cruel acts. Read more

This is not acceptable. What is being proposed is inhumane. We've learned so much regarding animal behaviour. We are their stewards to take care of and protect. Why do we continue to ignore the research? We have become the animals. Shame on us. Read more

This is a disgusting proposal. Hunting dogs are not inherently more worthy of life than the other animals outlined in this proposal. It is sick and cruel to keep these animals in captivity for the pleasure of humans, though the violence of their dogs. Read more
