I am very much opposed to the Open for Business planning tool. It gives far too much discretion to municipalities to override legislation that is very much in the public interest in terms of ensuring Ontario's traditionally high standards of environmental and conservation policy. Read more

This proposal is not required and undermines the land use planning process. If Official Plans and Zoning By-Laws are up to date as required by the Province and adequate employment are identified as required by the Province currently, why this this required? The answer is it is not required. Read more

The "open-for-business-planning tool" is a very bad idea. It incentivizes municipalities and enables them to bypass all regulations, in particular those that will protect the environment such as the Green Belt. Ontario has lots of land for development that is not in the Green Belt. Read more

I live in a small community in eastern Ontario, having moved out of Toronto 14 years ago. Even in that time, our area has changed from rural to ex-urban, as more and more retirees from Toronto and elsewhere buy land and build homes - to escape high prices and to live at a saner and safer pace. I am fully in support of this Bill on a number of fronts. It is clear that more land and infrastructure is required to handle the growth in and around the GTA. I truly believe that residents of municipalities should have a greater say in what and where is developed in their municipalities. Read more
