This is a very positive initiative that provides for the protection of species at risk and a sustainable forestry sector. The CFSA already provides landscape, stand, and site-level direction for managing, conserving, and protecting species at risk.

This proposal is nonsense, purely designed to ease resource extraction with less regulatory hurdles.

I would hope this would not be the thin edge of the wedge for animals or forests needing protection under good forest and environmental management. I am a bit concerned about the idea of reviving the spring bear hunt. Is it only for monetary gain or is there a better rational for it?
To successfully implement the four pillars of the Ontario Government’s Forest Strategy, the government will need to rely more heavily on competent and accountable forest professionals.
