As humans we count as 0.01% of all living beings yet we have destroyed 83% of mammals and half of plants.

Scientists have found that hunters are not able to distinguish mothers still nursing their cubs just from sight alone. The bear hunt should not be allowed, as mothers killed leave orphaned cubs.
Please stop the bear hunt. It is in humane. There is no reason why this is proceeding except to cater to small interest groups. Eco tourism is the way forward. This proposal is sending us backward in time.
I am strongly opposed to a regular black bear hunting season in Ontario. I am in support of Indigenous hunting black bear as needed for ceremony or need or government official hunting in very specific areas where black bear pose an immediate danger to humans or animals (farms).
I do not support instating the spring bear hunt. There is high potential for accidental killing of females leaving cubs without their mothers and likely to die.
I own 400 acres of forest beside a private lake in Hastings Highlands, not far from Algonquin Park. I am very opposed to reopening the Spring bear hunt. It not only affects adult bears but also bear cubs born that year.

Let’s learn from past mistakes and not re hash every single decision made before this government came in. There is no good reason to re-I state this hunt and lots of great reasons not to. Let’s use some sense here!
I am very much against opening this up to be automatically opened every year without a review and I also believe that this should be opened later in the year so that the mothers with their newborns Cubs will still be alive to nurse them and nourish them until they are able to survive on their own.

In the area I’m familiar the forest is treated poorly during hunting season discarded beer cans, plastic water bottles, shotgun shells, remnants from tree stands and domestic trash.
If the forest is treated with such disregard what guarantee is there a mother and cubs won’t be killed.

Please do NOT allow any hunting of Ontario Bears - they are an important part of our ecosystem and an amazing animal to marvel not kill. Instead - Let’s protect and build safe and sustainable environments for Bears.
This is a death warrant for innocent baby bear cubs who will be orphaned and die when their mothers are gunned down by hunters after emerging from hibernation in the spring. It is extremely disappointing that the current government has so little regard for the majestic being.
