No do not make the spring hunt permanent. Do not have a spring hunt. It is a death sentence for cubs. Do not put tourists above the need to preserve our Ontario wildlife. This PC government focuses too much on money and not enough on quality of life for all animals and citizens of Ontario.
The spring bear hunt should be ended permanently
it is totally inhumane to kill the bears just coming out of hibernation
there is no meat on them - so don't say it is for meat
not to mention you are killing females with cubs - the cubs then become orphans

The spring bear hunt should be reinstated. There are bears everywhere. There are too many. Someone will get hurt sooner or later. The bears are in the cities and towns and backyards.

I support the spring bear hunt as long it is supported by science. As long as there are enough bears to support a spring hunt it is a great resource for residents and non residents to enjoy and have amazing experiences.

Allowing hunters to run your province and kill your wildlife is one of the reasons I refuse to spend my tourism money there. You have a beautiful province and you are allowing trigger happy killers to destroy the wildlife that people hope to see when visiting. Shame on you.
Hunting during the spring season is barbaric. It doesn’t matter what the rules are, people make mistakes, Cubs are orphaned because mothers are killed. I strenuously object to this. Thank you.
I completely disagree with allowing early black bear hunting in Ontario. It should not be allowed, promoted, or made permanent in any way. Please do not accept this proposal.

Why will you do this? Mother bears will be killed during the hunt, leaving their orphaned cubs to starve or be killed by predators. Even if you can safeguard against this, it is still barbaric. Please do not bring back the hunt!
I have a very serious concern about the spring bear hunt and it's not just "emotional rhetoric". Mother bears and babies are off limits, the problem with that is the hunters inability to differentiate between a male and female bear. The spring bear hunt needs to be banned.

I oppose the black bear hunt as does my husband. We're very concerned about the precarious imbalance caused by environmental problems for wildlife survival. We are worried about the future numbers of this animal.

I am completely appalled at the Ford governments's lack of regard for the animals that inhabit Canada. Anything at any price for business. This is a beautiful country not because of industry but because of its wonderful natural resources and natural inhabitants.

As a resident and landowner near Peterborough there was a marked increase in population and problem bears (ie walking in yards, attempting to kill livestock) after the cancellation of the spring hunt. This was a well known issue elsewhere in the province.

Ban hunting of bears! Dangerous sport with too many effects on others (lead bullet fragments, accidental killing of female bears, leaving cubs orphaned).
