When worldwide this practice is being abolished this government is looking to expand this deplorable act. It's cruel and inhumane to the animal being chased. It may also make dogs in a constant hunting mode and chase other canids ie someone's pet.
Good grief! I firmly reject this proposal for extensions to train & trial areas in Ontario. This practice is archaic, cruel to wildlife and regressive in 2023. I'm shocked to learn that train & trial areas continue to exist - this entire concept must be banned.
I am shocked these penned hunting methods are still in practice. I absolutely reject the idea of allowing more to operate and would like to see the grandfathered ones closed down

I strongly oppose the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses, and the transfer of existing licenses, for dog train and trial areas in Ontario.

This practice directly increases the risk of transmission of diseases to humans such as Tularaemia, Bayliscaris, Leptospirosis and Echinococcus to name a few. Smearing bodily fluids from wildlife around is a really good way to get novel diseases to jump species from animals to people.

This is not right! Capturing wildlife to train dogs is unethical. This was banned and should still be banned. Why are we bringing this back? Just because hunters and other are complaining?? This is nonsense. This should not be reinstated!

This is inhumane towards wildlife. Hunting with dogs is another topic, but confining wildlife to an area where they can't escape is inhumane, and unacceptable.
Outdated and asinine proposal. Get with 2023 and move forward. Animals mean everything to most people and being kind is what we we should be striving for.
You are just feeding the human obsession with violence, killing and blood sports. It matters little to the dog who can have fun without killing. This practice is inhumane to the wildlife and the dog. And you wonder why there is so much violence in the world today. Shame shame shame.

I am deeply concerned about Ontario's proposal to expand penned dog hunting, where dogs learn to track and kill captive animals.
How can this be called a "Sport?" The coyotes, rabbits and foxes are trapped, then put into pens with no escape to be terrorized, hunted and killed.
