What a gross, cruel and inhumane proposal that is. There is no need to train dogs in that way. Can you imagine the terror the captive animals go through? Why are the animals in captivity in the first place? Are they are to be rehabilitated and released. Read more

The proposal to use dog training areas to train dogs to hunt timid animals that have been trapped and taken from their families is truly disturbing and I wholeheartedly disagree with it. This endeavour should not be launched.

This is the most savage, in humane practice that I have ever heard about. Anyone that is condoning or in this case actually supporting this act are beyond disgusting. Please reconsider your actions, stop any new “training” centers and shut down any existing ones. Let’s be humane here.

Please, please reconsider this vile proposal. These animals are sentient beings that feel pain and emotion, and deserve to live. They are not disposable. We are guests in their habitat and you have the absolute audacity to torture them like this? Read more

THIS IS AN INHUMANE PRACTICE INCREASING THE RISK OF DISEASE TRANSMISSION BETWEEN SPECIES AND CAUSING TRAUMA AND FEAR TO WILDLIFE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NEED FOR THIS ARCHAIC AND CRUEL PRACTICE.

Absolutely and utterly appalling that the Canadian government is condoning such a thing. There are other methods that can be used to adequately train a dog to hunt and trap, rather than exploiting wildlife for human benefit. Read more

In 2023 I cannot fathom how this practice can be supported and allowed. As a country that is trying to make good on reconciliation, the government is thinking of allowing a practice that does not in any way honour respect for nature, animals and the earth. Read more

As this cruel and inhmane practice was rightly slated to be phased out it is with deep disappointment that I learn of it's expansion. It is unneccsary and inhumane and should be stopped.

I am very much against this proposal. We cannot abandon our duty to these animals that look to us for protection. This is an inhuman idea, totally again what we, as Canadian stand for. I am surprised that such drastic measures are proposed. We can do better without harming other living creatures. Read more

I’m deeply disturbed by the blatant animal cruelty the province is proposing. Being a citizen of Ontario all my life, a registered veterinary technician, and as a human being with morals, this is absolutely shameful.

These were being phased out, which was a good thing. Opening up to more is an appalling backtrack. These places are inhumane, archaic and unnecessary. I am completely against this proposal and do not understand the governments position. If dog fighting is illegal why is this ok? Read more
