Please protect our Greenbelt! The people have voted against the urban sprawl. This will not solve the housing crisis. There is plenty of unused spaces that should be utilized. Ford promised that he would not touch the Greenbelt! “The people have spoken. We won’t touch the Greenbelt!”

The greenbelt is necessary for the climate in the region and the preservation of wildlife. As such, it may be beneficial to instead turn to already developed lands for renovation, such as taking down unused buildings and rebuilding them to be multi-unit housing.

Now more than ever, we need to preserve our green belt. Instead of building mansions for the rich along this land, flooding nearby areas and decimating the local wildlife, why not turn all those empty office buildings in Toronto into the affordable housing we so desperately need?

I think opening up the Greenbelt to development would be a terrible idea and disastrous to the ecosystems that already exist in that area. We are already struggling to stop the rapid decline of biodiversity, are you really going to speed that up?

Ontarians already said we don't want the greenbelt changed! How dare Doug Ford try to do this - the greenbelt is important to many animal species and to Ontario farmers! Opening it to development with cause immense damage.

We do not need to give up any green belt lands, agricultural lands and environmental sensitive areas to build more houses. The housing crisis can be solved by repurposing buildings and infill lots that already exist within our urban spaces and turning them into high density, low income properties.

We need more greenbelt, we don't need to exploit it. The worst part is, we all know Doug's changes are horrifying, and there are so many comments calling it out, but god damn is nothing going to change because we do not live in a democracy.
