I support the one-year extension to the moratorium on new or increased permits to take groundwater for water bottling. I also strongly support a phase-out and eventual ban on plastic water bottles themselves. The water-taking is only one problem, but the huge amount of energy used to produce, transport, and recycle plastic bottles, as well as the major pollution problem caused by discarded bottles, is an even bigger problem which I believe must be addressed. There is no need to put (and market) water in plastic bottles. People are perfectly capable of carrying their own reusable bottles and filling them with tap water. Plastic bottles should be eliminated.
