Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback on the policy. My team processes sign permits within the City of Kitchener. We have a great relationship with MTO staff in coordinating permits and have some suggestions for consideration:
1.It would be helpful to clarify in the policy when signs do and do not need a permit within proximity to a provincial highway likely related to visibility.
2.It is recommended that enforcement be coordinated with the local area municipality. Team coordination benefits both the local municipality and the province.
3.It would be helpful to have a mechanism for relief from the policy. We recommend that consideration be given for a structure to allow relief when circumstances warrant such consideration.
