Please stop supporting and rebuilding nuclear power plants. There is nothing environmentally friendly about nuclear power, for the danger of radiation leaking is always present. There is no safe way to dispose of nuclear waste. Certainly burying it in rock on the shores of Lake Huron is a ridiculous notion, for the rock shores of the Great Lakes are constantly moving, shifting, currently rising up, and radiation could migrate into Lake Huron. Our power plants are close to urban centres, and millions of people will be affected by a nuclear accident. Nuclear accidents cannot be cleaned up. Look at recent attempts to finally enclose Chernobyl. Look at the ongoing effects of Fukushima. Why do we risk such expensive, life-threatening catastrophe?

Even if running perfectly, nuclear power is not cheap. It is heavily subsidized by the taxpayer. Construction is always over budget, by billions of dollars. The taxpayer pays.

We have had some financial issues with Solar power, but it is coming down in cost, and research is expanding potential exponentially, so that soon we can have solar panels in roofing materials, as well as in roadways. It would be easy to require that all new construction of towers include solar power - a small cost compared to the cost of the overall construction. Small windmills also hold great potential.

I strongly urge, plead with you to make Ontario's future green, with no nuclear power, but instead renewable, sustainable power.
