Hello,
How exactly will companies be reprimanded for excessive destruction of species at risk? What happens if the fund runs out? How will you regulate companies so they are not destructively expanding areas that may be locally or regionally important to certain species?
This plan seems to have been rushed, and it has overlooked the potential for major environmentally destructive practices that will be exploited and only with minimal consequences. There is no way that a program of this nature will benefit species at risk when there is only minimum payment, there will not be enough money to protect species at risk without having measurements in place to penalize the companies for excessive destruction and development.
In short, like the cormorant hunt before it, this amendment has been rushed and should not be implemented without further consultation.
