I do not support opening the green belt for development. Is it not protected for a reason?
This policy is being rushed through without consideration or due regard for the consequences. We may face increased flooding, hastening (already soaring) climate warming, damage to critical plant, animal & insect species resulting in a reduction in quality of air, water, safety and destabilization of our food supply.
The very fact this legislation is being so aggressively fast-tracked is suspect. The government has already made changes due to "accidental oversights". A bill of this magnitude should be carefully scrutinized as the consequences may be dire.
We must address housing affordability, but there is little evidence to suggest these suggested policy changes will accomplish this. There are other options available - conservation authorities have made this clear. Why do we not heed their warnings? If this government truly cares for it's people, and their future - please, reconsider.
