Good afternoon. We have some grave concerns pertaining to this proposal. We live, as the crow flies, about a 1/4 mile from the proposed dump site. Our biggest concern is ground water contamination. The water table in this area is fairly high and there is a creek that runs along the edge of this property. Both of these will become contaminated which will cause ongoing issues for both the surrounding farmers as well as the wildlife in the area. Our other big concern with this is the stench that emits from these places. We, like everyone else in the area, should be able to enjoy our back yard no matter what direction the wind is blowing. I can't even imagine having to live across the road or next door to this place. We understand that there are some not so lovely smells in the country than come from farming activities however, having to deal with an industrial endeavor that produces an unbearable stench and damages both the affected property as well as adjacent properties is simply unacceptable. Why is this company not being made to take this waste to a sewage treatment center? There are more than a few in the area. Raw sewage, lets be real here, we are talking about human waste, can carry all kinds of germs, viruses and lord knows what else. Municipalities are made to send human waste for treatment.
They are not allowed to dump one ounce of it on the ground, so why are the rules so drastically different for this company. The human waste that this company deals with requires treatment, not dumping on useable farmland. Just how "useable" will this farmland be when this company is done with it and are they going to be the ones to return it to its previous state? Please do not pass this proposal. Companies like this need to be made to deal with human waste through treatment, not dumping .
Thank you,
