As a neighbour, business owner and parent of young children, I urge the ministry not to grant approval of the application to expand the human sewage operation at 6953 Falconbridge Drive, Melbourne, Ontario
This past weekend shows what 75-100mm (3-4 inches) of rain can do to an existing ecosystem
that sits on low ground and is situated on a naturally occurring flood zone. This site application should not only be revoked, but operations be should shut down altogether.
A 5 acre pond of rain and sewage slurry threatening to break the man made sand perimeter onto the paved road. Threatening to spill over to adjacent pasture land, affecting wildlife, farm crops, and beef cattle operations, and municipal drains and creeks.
The property in question has a natural creek and watershed in existence.
Moreover the hundreds of families relying on the water table and their well to support drinking water to their homes and farms.
Friends, have we not learned from Walkerton?
On a further note, please take account property values. How would your biggest assest of a family dwelling/ home/ or farm fare in a market knowing that a business such as this be expanded?
Let us take a moment to contemplate the ramifications of our actions of granting such an approval and what it could mean to our citizens, our food source and our community.
Being stewards of our community, our farmers and our environment would mean hauling the sewage to a waste treatment facility and treating it in a manner that is sound.
It is for these reasons I urge the Ministry to reject and close this site.
