This project absolutely needs a comprehensive environmental assessment, and should have been done before the plan was even considered or land was bought. We all know that once York 1 gets their foot in the door for an approved landfill they will be bringing all types of garbage to our town and will not be limited to constructions material. They are already trying to find loop holes to their plan by considering this an existing landfill and not a new one, which by law would need to be 3.5km away from a community. This proposed mega dump would be less than 1km from our homes. It is a health and safety concern for the environment and the people of Dresden. There are so many environmental concerns, traffic and pollution concerns, and also housing market concerns. No one is going to want to buy a house right beside a dump and the value of our home will be destroyed. Recently people have come to town and asked that’s happening, they were told about the dump and the people no longer wanted to buy a house here. This proposal from York 1 is devastating and should be stopped immediately. Please complete a full comprehensive environmental assessment and do anything you can to stop this!
