I find living on a pension I prefer to trap my own minnows and keep them alive with an aerator as long as possible or until I use them up. Because we live within 2 km. of the boundary between 2 areas we catch our bait near the boundary and may use them either side of the boundary but if the proposals go through I would need to obtain fresh minnows every time I fish north of the proposed line. I can see if the minnows were coming out of one of the great lakes or near one of them but we many times obtain the minnows from a stream that crosses the proposed boundary more than once so what would be wrong with taking them either way? Why not leave it so that we can trap minnows under our sport fishing permit and what type of info will be needed? I worry about the added cost and the waste of good minnows. If there was a problem with invasive species then I would see the need here but there is already rules about dumping bait on shore and transfer of fish. We need no extra regulations and costs to obtain fish for food. I only fish to eat ,not for sport . you propose to eliminate sickle back minnows under the guise of saving confusion but I use them for fishing certain species of fish that really like them. With the removal of many different minnows it will make it harder for me to know what is legal. Why not leave northern areas the way they are at present .
