I am appalled at the prospect of the cancellation of the Cap & Trade Act. This province needs to leave this act in place until it has something even more aggressive in place to address the need to get off carbon based fuels in the very near future. Although I'm no fan of CAP & Trade, I do support a Carbon Tax and dividend to the taxpayers as the most transparent and effective method.
Although the IPCC report stresses the urgency of acting now, it remains muted in light of the even more alarming effects of rising sea levels on so many settled areas around the globe and the loss of life and/or relocation of millions of people. It remains muted in light of the alarming effects of changing climate on food production and the resultant relocation of millions of people and/or loss of life due to starvation. It remains muted in light of the ever increasing likelihood of triggering feedback loops as tripping points are reached, that will make the current 1.5 degrees in 12 years irrelevant.
