While the cap and trade program was never perfect it was something. Cancelling it without an alternative plan would be irresponsible. With only a little more the decade to change our ways before its too late this is not the time to be cancelling green programs. As an alternative what if companies and homeowners underwent to a carbon/ energy audit. Then depending on how much they shrink their carbon footprint they would receive rebates. Not specific to any one thing but an over all lowering if their footprint. For larger companies maybe a discount on their hydro would be more appealing. Also, all new homes should be equipped with solar panels and new suburbs should be heated with geothermal heating.
